According to recent public records, a new Middle Eastern desserts shop is coming to town. Ya Habibi Sweets & Ice Cream will be found in Jacksonville at 6271 St. Augustine Road, within suite 28.

“We’ll be serving Arabic sweets,” owner Kamal Fakhouri enthusiastically tells What Now Jacksonville. “We’ll have turkish cakes such as baklava and kunafe.”

“We’ll be big on dubai chocolate–pistachio white chocolate and dark chocolate–as well as dubai strawberry cups.”

Fakhouri adds that on the ice cream side, readers can expect chocolate and cookies and cream flavors, as well as gelato-style ice cream.

“We’re finalizing everything; we have about a week to finalize the menu,” Fakhouri adds; in a follow-up email Fakhouri lists “Cheese pull kunafe, kunafe Nutella and viral Dubai kunafe” as menu items and states that “we also do live shows as requested per customer. He will come to where the location is and actually do a live kunafe show. Table smoke shows using dry ice and many more.”

When asked why they chose this location in particular, Mr. Fakhouri says “It’s very convenient in relation to a lot of the surrounding Arabic stores.”

10 minutes to downtown, 10 minutes to the beach, 10 minutes to Orange Park; we’re right in the heart of the city.”

So when can readers expect Ya Habibi to open?

“May 1st,” Mr. Fakhouri says.
