Post Properties’ newest Atlanta apartments are taking shape after the multifamily developer presented its plans for the project to downtown’s Development Review Committee earlier this year.
Renderings of the new apartment complex, Centennial Park Apartments located on a site bounded by Centennial Olympic Park Drive and Baker, Williams and Simpson streets, surfaced Wednesday.
Looney Ricks Kiss (LRK), the architectural and planning firm behind the apartments, posted project specifics to its website.
“With a 35-foot grade change across the two sites, the architecture along Centennial Hill is traditional while it transitions to more contemporary alongside Centennial Olympic Park,” LRK notes on its website.
“Each block boasts three distinct building styles to preserve the diverse character of the neighborhood and allow a more graceful massing transition as the buildings step down the hill.”
Centennial Park Apartments will offer 407 units ranging in size from 537 to 1,356 square feet, according to LRK.
A little hard to tell what those ground floor walls facing COP are (they look tall for retail windows… is it fenestration masking parking?), but overall this project looks like a much-needed residential boost for downtown and a fine step toward de-Portmanizing it.
We love to nitpick and find problems with everything, myself included, but this is a huge win for downtown and for Atlanta. The domino effect will be very positive. Kudos to the Post team for pushing ahead with this project. Someday we will owe them a thanks. I’m serious for once!
City of Atlanta might actually need to spend some of the tax money they’ve been hoarding to fix the TERRIBLE roads around this area.
Cities in the North East with frozen winters have better roads than Atlanta downtown. Where is the tax $$ going? I bent 5 wheels on roads here in the last 2 years.
