Tim Hortons Expanding to Georgia by Way of 15-Unit Franchise Deal

Canadian fast-food chain Tim Hortons is expanding to the peach state, according to a press release Tuesday.

Veteran Franchisee Abid Khutliwala, who has operated Checker’s and Popeyes restaurants, has secured a 15-location deal for Georgia over the next five years — most of which will be in the Atlanta metro area and Columbus.

“I’ve been familiar with Tim Hortons ever since visiting Toronto years ago, and I really love the coffee. I think it will be the best coffee around,” Khutliwala said. “I’m very excited to introduce a new brand to Atlanta; one that locals will be happy to build into their routines.”

Known by patrons as Tim’s or Timmies, the Toronto-based chain is Canada’s largest quick-service restaurant chain — with 4,949 restaurants in 15 countries — and serves “Canada’s favourite” coffee as well as doughnuts and other fast food items.

Details of when and where Georgians will see the first Timmies pop up was not disclosed and Khutliwala on Tuesday did not immediately respond to What Now Atlanta’s request for comment.
