A beloved pizza chain is preparing to blow a taste of the Windy City into its first DC home. Giordano’s, known for its Chicago-style deep dish pizzas, is gearing up for its District debut, reports the Washington Business Journal.

The pizzeria will be making its auspicious entrance into the nation’s capital at 600 14th St. NW. Giordano’s will be ending a relatively long stretch of dormancy for the building; it’s been vacant since December of 2023, when its former tenant MXDC Cocina Mexicana relocated.

While Giordano’s isn’t actively courting any further DC locations, CEO Nick Scarpino states that the eatery is more than open to expansion throughout the region. However, the immediate focus is in ensuring that the new 7,000 square foot store front is launched successfully.

Scarpino confirmed with What Now DC that Giordano’s is shooting for an early 2026 opening for the District storefront.

Scarpino states that Giordano’s is excited to greet new neighbors and join a thriving community. He says: “We feel fortunate to be in the same vicinity as, obviously, The Hamilton, but also Old Ebbitt Grill and these other Washington, D.C., staples.”

Founded in Chicago in 1974, Giordano’s is more than just the celebrated pizza it’s most well known for. While the menu does prominently feature pies-both the city’s signature deep-dish variety and a selection of tavern-style thin crusts-it also offers a range of sandwiches, pastas, and salads.
