Italian restaurant chain North Italia is expected to expand with its first location in the Triad, with plans to open a Greensboro location. It will go into a 6,058-square-foot space at the Friendly Center at 610 Pembroke Road and is expected to open this winter, according to reporting by the Triad Business Journal.

This will be the fourth location for North Italia in North Carolina, joining already open locations in South End, Ballantyne and Birkdale Village in Huntersville. It has locations across the country in 16 states and Washington, D.C.

North Italia launched as a part of Fox Restaurant Concepts in Arizona in 2002. In 2019, North Italia and the rest of Sam Fox’s hospitality group were acquired by The Cheesecake Factory.

The Italian chain is known for its handmade pasta such as strozzapreti and ricotta cavatelli, pizzas such as spicy meatball and prosciutto, charcuterie boards and other small plates.

“At every one of our North Italia locations, our team is full of passionate and dedicated people who work hard every day to deliver the perfect handcrafted experience. We use only the best ingredients to create and serve consistently crave-worthy food, like our chef’s choice daily pizza and fresh pasta made from scratch daily,” the website states. “To us, nothing is quite as satisfying as sharing a dish of handmade pasta and savoring every bite, sip, and moment with the people who matter most.”

North Italia is not the only business joining the Friendly Center. Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants recently announced plans to open there, and breakfast-and-brunch chain First Watch is planning a location, as well.
