One of the top ramen brands on the dining scene is preparing to make summer a little hotter for DC foodies. JINYA Ramen Bar is opening a new location in Georgetown later this year.

The acclaimed chain is setting up its new District kitchen at 1525 Wisconsin Avenue, NW. The storefront, located in one of DC’s most historic neighborhoods, previously housed an Italian restaurant named Umbria.

While JINYA has not yet announced an official opening date for the Georgetown location, a representative for the restaurant confirmed that it will be ready to greet customers this summer.

JINYA’s Georgetown restaurant is part of a greater push by the ramen luminaries into the DC market. The eatery has one location already up and in operation in Logan Circle, with several more in development, including an upcoming storefront at the Wharf.

Speaking of its new home in a press release, JINYA expresses enthusiasm to join “one of the most historic areas of the District. With its focus on tradition and authenticity, JINYA Ramen Bar will fit in perfectly to its new home.”

All DC-area JINYA’s will be helmed by local franchisee Sam Shoja, who is committed to upholding the brand’s reputation for superior cuisine and hospitality. The website describes the company’s approach to its signature dish, saying: “Slowly simmered for more than twenty hours, each of our six signature broths balances flavors from whole pork bones, chicken and vegetables with just the right amount of bonito, dashi, miso, kombu, and other classic Japanese ingredients. The result is a rich broth that is thick, full-flavored, and unforgettable.”
