Founded almost thirty years ago by Chris and Robin Sorensen, who had grown up in “a family that is both entrepreneurial and built on decades of fire and police service,” Firehouse Subs has become household name, growing to more than 1,250 locations.
As the brand continues to grow, a new location appears to be in the works in Clearwater. Franchisee Colin Means submitted plan review paperwork for a new location at 2849 Gulf to Bay Blvd.
The location on Gulf to Bay Boulevard is situated next to Cross Circle. There it would join a restaurant community that includes Original Hooters, McDonald’s, and Pete & Shorty’s Iowa Bistro. What’s missing there so far? Subs!
The Firehouse menu features Hot Specialty Subs like the Firehouse Captain’s Club (spicy chicken with bacon & hero sauce), the Pepperoni Pizza Meatball Sub (meatballs, pepperoni & marinara), and the Hook & Ladder (turkey & ham with Monterey Jack cheese). Current limited-time sandwiches offered in partnership with Hot Ones sandwiches build on this last combination, creating the Zesty Garlic Hook & Latter, which includes Hot Ones Classic Fresno Hot Sauce, and the Spicy Dill Hook & Ladder, which includes Hot Ones The Last Dab Reaper Edition hot sauce.
“People come back when they’re treated well and fed well. Turns out, people absolutely LOVE the same things as our Founders – the best meats, cheeses, and toppings we can find,” says the Firehouse Subs website. “People come back again and again because, unlike other sub places, we steam our meats and cheeses, releasing a rush of flavors, then stuff a serving that’s way over code on one of our toasted private-recipe sub rolls. It’s a winning combination that satisfies ravenous appetites and the value-conscious alike.”
What Now reached out to Colin Means on Wednesday to ask about plans for a new Firehouse Subs in Clearwater. Means was not immediately available for comment.
