Next year promises to be an exciting one for the DFW food scene, and a growing chain committed to superior burgers and beer is helping the region to ensure 2026 kicks off on an auspicious and memorable foot. Hopdoddy Burger Bar, a concept with several locations spread across Texas, is opening a new storefront in McKinney next winter, reports Community Impact.
The restaurant will be setting up shop at 8565 West University Drive, Suite 100. Paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows that Hopdoddy will occupy a 2,866 square foot space in the West Grove development.
Work began on the eatery on July 15 of 2023 and is set to conclude by January 29 of 2026. While this does not guarantee an opening timeline, it does suggest that McKinney diners will be able to enjoy Hopdoddy’s cuisine at some point early next year, likely February or March.
Founded in Austin in 2010, Hopdoddy’s prides itself on its carefully crafted burgers, made from ethically sourced meats. The range of burgers offered far exceeds standard expectations; even the most seasoned aficionado is likely to find a new favorite during a Hopdoddy’s visit, whether it’s a distinctive twist on the classic like the Cadillac Wagyu or a total re-envisioning like the Chilaquiles Rojos. However guests not looking for burgers won’t be left out in the cold; Hopdoddy’s also offers fried chicken, sharable fries, and loaded brussels.
The chain is determined to provide a high-quality twist on a beloved concept. The website explains its name and its purpose, saying: “Hops are a flower used to make beer tasty & Doddy is a nickname for Black Angus cattle. Put them together and you have Hopdoddy! The world has plenty of places to get a burger & a cold one… we’re just dedicated to do the best rendition out there.”
