New Restaurant Manhatto Files Liquor License Paperwork

The spot will join the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood.

A new Japanese restaurant, Manhatto, is taking over the ground floor space at 783 Ninth Avenue formerly home to Prime Meat Rokko, which closed last year, liquor license paperwork filed with the community board indicates.

Pannavit Wongsung, the owner behind Manhatto, is also part of the team behind Thai restaurant When in Bangkok operating in Flushing, the paperwork indicates. When in Bangkok has been open since 2021.

The proposed menu for Manhatto features items like edamame truffle, shishito pepper, Yasai tempura, ceviche, crispy rice tuna tartare and curry. It will also serve sushi rolls such as the tuna avocado roll, shrimp roll and salmon avocado roll, and ramen such as spicy ton and udon black soup with shrimp tempura.

Plans call for 20 tables that will seat 40 customers and one bar that will seat eight, according to the paperwork. The proposed hours of operation are 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with hours extended to 10:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

An opening timeline for Manhatto currently remains unclear.
