A new cocktail bar may soon shake things up in Jamaica Plain.
Alan Wong—known for hosting cocktail popups throughout the city—is seeking an alcohol license for Mr. Drinky, his proposed “small craft cocktail bar” at 606 Centre St. While the license hasn’t been approved yet, Universal Hub reports that the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council voiced support for the idea, noting that the area lacks a similar concept.
Wong confirmed his plans with What Now Boston but declined to share further details, explaining that it’s still early days. “While I have a vision for the project, I think it may be premature to say anything definitive… without making firm decisions on the design of the space, or committing to an actual project timeline,” he wrote in an email.
However, a Boston Licensing Board hearing agenda indicates that the 500-square-foot venue would include seating for eight to ten guests at the bar, with room for another 14 to 22 patrons in booths or along a bench. Proposed hours of operation are 5 to 11 p.m., though Wong hopes to extend closing to 1 a.m. for special events.
Wong envisions Mr. Drinky as a “third place”—a welcoming neighborhood spot for expertly crafted cocktails and small plates, complete with what he calls “a serious ice program.”
He plans to share more once the details take shape, so stay tuned for updates as Mr. Drinky stirs to life.
