Buc-ee’s, known for their massive locations blending a gas station with food and beverage offerings, is making progress toward opening in Murfreesboro.

The spot, expected to be situated off I-24 along Elam Road and Joe B. Jackson Parkway, has been in the works for years, with plans first emerging in May 2021. However, Buc-ee’s has finally been making headway on the location, with initial stages of construction beginning earlier this year.

A June 18 meeting for the Murfreesboro Planning Commission indicated more progress is on the way. Buc-ee’s Murfreesboro, LLC sought a final plat review for two lots on the site for the store that will span more than 76,000 square feet and feature 120 fuel pumps.

The brand is aiming for a 2026 opening, according to WGNS.

Buc-ee’s launched in 1982 in Texas and now has more than 50 locations, largely spanning the Southeast U.S. That includes two Tennessee locations, including one in Crossville and one in Sevierville.

Food and beverages found at Buc-ee’s include breakfast tacos, pastries, coffee, tea, sandwiches, jerky and more.

Aside from providing fuel, electric charging stations, food, beverages and other products, Buc-ee’s is known for being a clean stop for travelers. They boast the title of having the “cleanest restrooms in America” on their website.
