A local Sicilian-style seafood spot has hit pause in Brookline.

The Daily Catch restaurant at 441 Harvard St has been closed for several weeks, according to a poster on the Friends of Boston’s Hidden Restaurants Facebook page. A sign on the door lets locals know it’s only temporary: “The Daily Catch Brookline will be closed for necessary renovations until further notice.”

Founded as ‘Calamari Cafe’ by Paul Freddura in 1973, The Daily Catch has long been known for its pasta and seafood specialties. The menu features dishes like calamari meatballs, grilled octopus, shrimp scampi, clams, mussels, oysters, and swordfish.

The Daily Catch currently welcomes guests at its flagship North End spot and at its waterfront location in the Seaport District. A takeout-only eatery is also slated to open soon in the North End. Over the years, the Freddura family has opened and closed several locations throughout Boston and beyond.

While representatives for the brand have not yet responded to inquiries from What Now Boston, The Daily Catch’s website assures diners that the Brookline location is only temporarily closed, with the team simply “conducting repairs and giving this location TLC!”

Stay tuned for updates on The Daily Catch’s reopening timeline in Brookline. In the meantime, seafood lovers can still savor their favorite fishy fare in the North End or Seaport District.
