A high-intensity, South Carolina-based Reformer Pilates studio will soon make its New England debut in Brookline.

The WRKT is set to open its first Massachusetts studio at 271 Harvard Street in Coolidge Corner on September 8, 2026, bringing the company’s signature 45-minute, high-intensity Reformer Pilates classes to the neighborhood. The studio will be located directly across from the Green Line stop, making it an easy addition to the daily routines of both residents and commuters.

“Calling all Boston Pilates girls — The WRKT Boston is coming in HOT,” the brand teased on Instagram. “We are beyond excited to bring you the ultimate 45 minutes of high-intensity Reformer Pilates that will leave you stronger, sweatier, and wanting more. Get ready for next-level energy, powerful workouts, and a fitness community unlike anything you’ve experienced before!”

Founded by Karis Loewen in 2019, The WRKT was created with a simple goal: to offer a more challenging take on traditional Pilates. The studio’s signature WRKT Method™ blends classical Pilates principles with strength training, faster-paced transitions, progressive resistance, and cardio-focused movement for a high-intensity workout designed to build strength, endurance, and control.

Rather than easing through a traditional reformer routine, participants can expect 45 minutes of continuous, purposeful movement that targets muscular endurance while keeping the heart rate elevated. The programming focuses on progressive resistance and slow-twitch muscle fibers to help build strength and definition while remaining low-impact on the joints.

Alexis Howe, the operator of the upcoming Brookline location, said she hopes to create a studio that feels like much more than a place to squeeze in a workout.

“I’m so excited to bring The WRKT to Brookline and create more than just a place to work out – it’s a place where people can build strength, make meaningful connections, and feel like they truly belong,” Howe told What Now Boston. “My hope is that everyone who walks through our doors finds a supportive community that makes showing up for themselves something they genuinely look forward to.”

The new studio is currently under construction and will feature a vintage-inspired aesthetic, incorporating The WRKT’s signature green-and-cream color palette while embracing the character of Boston. Howe also plans to make community a major part of the studio, including opportunities to host private events such as birthday celebrations.

The WRKT Boston will release its founding memberships on Friday, August 21 at 12 p.m., with a one-time-only founding rate of $199 for unlimited Reformer Pilates. A 10-class pack will also be available. The studio says its founding offerings are prone to selling out within minutes, so aspiring members will want to mark their calendars.
