Miopostos Ravenna location is temporarily closed after an SUV crashed into the busy restaurant on the evening of July 4.

A Seattle Police Department spokesperson told What Now Seattle the vehicle ran a red light at 35th Ave. NE and NE 55th St., crashing into Mioposto around 8:20pm. Several diners were injured in the crash.

The Seattle Fire Department responded and deemed the building unsafe to occupy due to gasoline leaking from the vehicle inside the restaurant.

“The driver was evaluated on scene and determined not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol (DUI),” the spokesperson said. “The vehicle was towed from the scene. The driver will be cited and may face significant financial penalties in civil court.”

Robyn Nielson, a spokesperson for Mioposto, told KING-TV while there’s no concrete timeline for reopening the restaurant, the team appreciates the community’s support.

Mioposto continues to operate its three other locations in Mt. Baker, Admiral in West Seattle and Mercer Island, with another location set to open this summer.

Eastlake Location

The restaurant is still planning to open its fifth location in Eastlake this August. The new 2,200-square-foot space, located at 2501 Eastlake Ave. inside the Liza building, will feature a central pizza bar, a full-service bar and a wraparound patio.

“We are opening our fifth location in Eastlake, and we’re hoping to have our Ravenna team be part of the opening team there,” Nielsen told the outlet.

Founded in 2006, Mioposto was created as a date-night pizzeria rooted in Italian tradition, focused on sourcing high-quality ingredients and serving as a neighborhood gathering spot.

What Now Seattle reached out to Sound Restaurant Family—the group behind Mioposto, The Poodle Dog, The Hob Nob and Knapp’s—but has not yet received a response.
