Therme Canada has unveiled the latest design for its waterpark and wellness facility at Ontario Place, which includes plans for multiple food and beverage offerings aimed at families and visitors of all ages.

The new design, developed in partnership with architecture firm Diamond Schmitt, STUDIO tla, Trophic Design, and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (MCFN), emphasizes public access and family-friendly amenities, according to a press release. At the centre of the project is a 65,000-square-metre indoor waterpark and spa complex, surrounded by 16 acres of publicly accessible parkland and recreational areas.

Among the key features of the development are a range of dining spaces integrated within the wellness and recreation centre. The area dedicated to family activities will feature “multiple food and beverage offerings,” situated among botanical gardens and adjacent to attractions such as waterslides and wave pools, according to YourCityWithin. While detailed information about the restaurant concepts has not yet been released, Therme has positioned food as part of the broader wellness and leisure experience it aims to provide at the redeveloped Ontario Place site.

“Ontario Place has always been a place of connection — to land, to water, and to each other,” Chief Claire Sault of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation said in a press release This project is about honouring those connections through design that reflects Indigenous teachings, ecological stewardship, and community use.”

Therme Canada also stated that its approach is grounded in both cultural and ecological considerations, with plans for year-round programming and public gathering areas. The facility is projected to welcome up to 2.6 million visitors annually and is scheduled to open in 2029. The project represents an estimated $500 million investment in the waterpark and spa, along with $200 million directed at shoreline restoration and land rehabilitation.

“At Therme, we believe that wellbeing should be accessible, joyful, and culturally meaningful,” Adam Vaughan, Senior Advisor at Therme Canada, said in a press release. “We are honoured to help shape a renewed Ontario Place — one that is open, welcoming, and transformative.”

Further announcements are expected as construction progresses, including more details on the food and beverage options available on-site.
