Do you believe in magic? Matcha Magic is expanding its footprint in the Seattle area with three new cafes set to open this year and five more locations in the pipeline.

The matcha-focused café will debut in Redmond with a soft launch on July 15 and a grand opening on August 9 at 7705 168th Ave. NE. Additional locations are planned for Capitol Hill in late August at 1530 11th Ave. and South Lake Union in September or October.

Founded by Rachel Barnecut and operated under Conscious Hospitality Group, led by her husband Norman Wu, Matcha Magic first opened in Bellevue and has since expanded to New Orleans. The hospitality group focuses on brand concepts rooted in authentic experiences and aims to create a sense of connection and community, according to its website.

“Back in 2021, we had an opportunity to open up a first location close to where we live and it’s gone really well,” Wu told What Now Seattle. “We’re fortunate that, that concept is getting a chance to grow.”

Matcha Magic’s menu features a wide range of matcha-based beverages, including creative lattes like the Matcha Horchata and Strawberry Matcha. Signature drinks include the Matcha Colada—made with pineapple and coconut—and the Purple Rain, blending lavender, ube and matcha sweet cream. Tonics include house-made lemonades and the Coconut Matcha Cloud with pink coconut water. Smoothies range from the fruit-forward Berry Magic to the creamy Cloudy Coconut, all topped with coconut cream.

The cafe also serves açaí bowls and toast made with seasonal ingredients. Highlights include the Uncrusta-Bowl and Coco Glow, topped with hemp granola, fresh fruit, nut butters and coconut matcha chia seed pudding. Toast options range from classic avocado to the PB Crunch with banana, blueberries and honey. A toast flight lets customers sample any three half-toasts.

Matcha Magic is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
