Ginger & Fork to Close Doors After 9 Years
As everyone continues to struggle through this recovery phase. Many decide to close permanently. Houston’s beloved Chinese restaurant, Ginger & Fork, is one such business.
Via social media, the restaurant owners have announced the end of this journey. After careful consideration, Ginger & Fork will officially close on October 25, 2025. They have decided not to renew the lease and will instead end operations.
Known for its modern take on Hong Kong and Cantonese dishes, Ginger & Fork has served the Houston community for nearly a decade.
Message of Gratitude to the Community
For 9 years, the restaurant has served the community with delicious food and friendly service. As they prepare to close, the owners are expressing heartfelt gratitude to their loyal patrons. Thanking every person who has shared a beautiful memory with them, the message begins.
“If you are reading this, let us start by saying thank you,” the post reads. “Thank you so much for your support, your patience, and the time that you have given to us through the years. Getting to know you and your families, sharing milestones, and growing together with you will forever be core memories that we hold dearly.”
Over the years, the team has weathered challenges to continue serving the neighborhood. Ginger & Fork plans to continue service through October, featuring throwback specials from its archives.
“Through every storm we’ve endured, we continued to persevere with the optimism that we would get another chance to serve you under our roof,” the post continues. “You are the reason for every time that we have pulled through, and we are so grateful that you made it possible for us to say farewell on our own terms.”
As the time for the closure slowly approaches, the owners invite the community for a last memory. Bringing back specials served over the years, the restaurant will continue serving until October 2025.
“We’d love to spend our last months and days reminiscing about our favorite memories from the last decade with you. Keep a look out for our farewell specials bringing back cocktails and dishes from the G&F vault since 2016.”
Reason for the Closure
The owners have also shared the reason for the closure. Despite recovery efforts, staffing shortages have made operations increasingly difficult. The restaurant’s staff shortage has been a hurdle throughout this period.
The lean team has stepped up to cover every aspect of daily operations. This has let them push till this day, but it isn’t a long-term solution. Maintaining service standards with limited staff has proven unsustainable.
“If you’ve visited us since 2020, you would know that we never recovered from staff shortage,” the message reads. “While we are definitely lucky to have a team that is mighty despite small, the struggle to cover all of the necessary roles within this operation at the standard that we strive to uphold has been very real.”
The owners will not renew their lease this year and will instead say their goodbyes. This is the final opportunity for locals to make more memories at this restaurant.
As this chapter closes, it gives everyone an opportunity to gather once again. Whether to say goodbye or relive a favorite memory, guests are encouraged to visit one last time. Ginger & Fork hopes to celebrate its final weeks with food, memories, and a strong sense of community.
