New details have emerged about a restaurant from the owners of Bar George and Last Saint expected to open later this year in Charleston.
Ok Donna—a concept by Joey Goetz and his fiancée, Megan Hill, along with Chico Feo owner Hank Weed—will open at 1117 King St., in the former Islamic Center of Charleston.
“I like my pasta, I like my wine, vodka with my olive brine. Sweet treats, cigarettes, driving fast in red Corvettes,” reads a tagline on the restaurant’s website.
An official menu has not been released, but Ok Donna is expected to serve pizza, hand-rolled pasta and amaro-based drinks. The restaurant will not be strictly Italian, according to The Post and Courier.
Bar George chefs Mason Morton and James Ostop will lead the culinary program. Hill will oversee front-of-house operations, while Weed will manage the kitchen and building.
The concept is inspired by Goetz’s mother Donna, her Sicilian heritage and his Italian upbringing.
The 500-square-foot restaurant will include a dining room and bar, along with a 520-square-foot covered outdoor patio.
Ok Donna is slated to open by late summer.
