Founded in 1996 on Cannery Row in Monterey, California, and inspired by the classic film Forrest Gump, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. has made a film concept into a real-world favorite for seafood.

“Capturing the magic that made ‘Forrest Gump’ an American classic, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. serves scratch-made, southern-style comfort dishes plucked straight off the silver screen – we’re talking sautéed shrimp, fried shrimp, coconut shrimp, shrimp scampi…(shall we go on?), alongside award-winning baby back ribs, burgers, salads and more in a fun and energetic atmosphere,” the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. website says.

There are now more than 30 Bubba Gump locations in the U.S. and internationally.

Now, the restaurant is opening a new location in Myrtle Beach, at Broadway at the Beach. The retail center’s website says the new Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is “Coming Soon.”

Coverage by the Post and Courier specifies that Bubba Gump will take over the space formerly occupied by Landry’s Seafood House and is working toward a 2027 opening.
