Owen’s Bistro, a downtown Chino staple, is preparing for a significant restoration project aimed at revitalizing the historic building it calls home. Located at 5210 D Street, the restaurant is in an old brick structure that needs some work, according to Champion Newspapers.

The City of Chino has reportedly budgeted $150,000 towards the city-owned building’s restoration, which will include repairs to the aging brickwork on both the interior and exterior, including the covered outdoor patio. Despite the upcoming construction, Owen’s Bistro will remain open.

Owned and operated by Chef James Kelly and Denise Kelly, Owen’s Bistro has served the community for more two decades. James was awarded Chef of the Year and Denise Kelly Maître d’ of the Year by the Southern California Restaurant Writers Association, the eatery’s website states.

The bistro’s rotating menu features elevated classics like Short Rib Pappardelle, Shrimp Fra Diavolo, and the signature 12 oz Tajima Australian Wagyu Ribeye. The lounge serves craft cocktails, including the “Smokin’ Maggie” and “Weekend at Gi Gi’s.” It was named Chino’s Business of the Month in October 2024, according to a post.
