A fresh location of Panda Express is in the works for Baytown, according to public permits filed with the state. The popular American Chinese chain is moving forward with plans for a new standalone restaurant at 8451 TX-146, bringing another drive-thru option to the growing corridor.
The permit shows the project will be a full ground-up build, coming in at 2,700 square feet. It’s designed to operate as a standard drive-thru fast food layout, in line with the brand’s current push toward more efficient and streamlined formats that cater to mobile orders and off-premise dining.
Panda Express is known for its fast-casual take on American Chinese cuisine, serving up crowd favorites like Orange Chicken, Beijing Beef, and Broccoli Beef alongside sides such as fried rice, chow mein, and steamed vegetables. Guests can build their own plate with a mix of entrees and sides, or opt for bowls, a la carte portions, and family meals. The menu also features limited-time seasonal items and plant-based options, giving regulars something new to try alongside the classics.
The estimated construction cost is listed at $3.25 million, signaling a significant investment into the area. The site sits near other established retail and food spots, making it a strategic choice for traffic and accessibility.
No official word has been given by Panda Express corporate on this specific location yet, but the scope and timeline have been outlined in the state filings. Construction is expected to begin in November 2025, with completion set for June 2026.
