The newest brewery coming to the Motor City now has an official date of opening.
The grand opening for Six Spoke Brewing is set for Aug. 8 at 2445 Michigan Avenue, near Michigan Central Station. The company was founded this year by Joe Mifsud, and his son and daughter-in-law Jordan and Kelcie. This is a project that has been worked on for 30 years.
The family has a long history with the city as Joe’s grandparents immigrated to Detroit from Malta in the early 1900s. In 1993, Mifsud saw an opportunity as the building where the brewery will be housed was abandoned. He bought the entire space which now houses Two James Spirits Detroit Tasting Room and Cork & Gabel, a restaurant with a full bar.
“Corktown has grown and changed and we are happy to do so as well, all while respecting its history,” Mifsud said in a press release.
Brews like hazy IPAs are being advertised on social media. The business announced on July 6 they have started brewing for the grand opening. The new space has stainless steel barrels, a large bar inside and moody drop lighting.
It was previously reported by What Now Detroit in September 2023 that the business would be opening at 2415 Michigan Avenue. Now the address is 2445 Michigan Avenue, and the opening date is official.
