A new pizza option is on the way to Beer City USA.

Licari’s Sicilian looks to be expanding this year, and the team is teasing a new restaurant coming to 2869 Knapp Street NE. The business was originally at this location in 2012 when they first opened, but have since moved to 3123 Leonard Street NE. Right now, the owners are aiming for a late October opening date.

Along with the current location on Leonard Street, owners Gianni and Lisa Licari operate a restaurant in Hudsonville at 3627 Baldwin Street. This one opened in 2018, and it is not known how long the team has been wanting to come back to the Knapp Street Spot.

“Enjoy authentic Sicilian cuisine made with high-quality, fresh ingredients—sourced both locally and imported!” Says the description on their Facebook page.

The pizza has been voted best in Michigan, according to their website. A couple staples include the Sole with tomato pesto, sauteed mushrooms and ricotta cheese, as well as the Giardino with a ricotta cheese spread and crushed pistachios. Sides like garlic bread, ricotta balls and calamari are also served. These can be accompanied by pastas, salads and sandwiches.

The new Licari’s Sicilian is opening on the north side of Knapp Street NE, sharing the building with The Crushed Grape wine store. This is on the far east side of Grand Rapids, close to Celebration! Cinema. The area is home to other chains including HopCat, Buffalo Wild Wings and Melting Pot.

What Now Detroit has reached out to the Licari’s and is awaiting comment.
