Shoots Fish & Beer, the seafood-and-beer concept founded in 2021, is set to take over the former Bottlecraft location at 602 South Tremont Street, Suite 101, in Oceanside.
The transition was made official on Wednesday, August 20, when Bottlecraft transferred its California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control license to Shoots, according to SD Beer News. The space, which initially housed Shoots as a subtenant when it operated under the name Shootz Fish X Beer, has continued to serve as a shared location to this day. No reopening date under Shoots management has been announced as of the time of publication.
Wrench & Rodent Seabasstropub chef Davin Waite, CLTVT design-build owner Chris Slowey, and professional surfer Cheyne Magnusson launched shoots. The group has since expanded with a second, standalone taproom at 2956 Roosevelt Street, Unit 2, in Carlsbad, which now serves as the brand’s flagship.
Shoots will take over management of the existing 30-tap bar and the on-site retail beverage shop. Co-owner Chris Slowey said the team plans to make minimal changes to the space beyond new exterior signage. The business also plans to host community and culture-focused events, made easier by gaining control of the alcohol program.
Bottlecraft founder Brian Jensen initiated the transfer and will continue to support Shoots as a consultant during the transition. He will assist with beverage curation while shifting focus to his South Park bar, Bock. The Oceanside location was one of six Bottlecraft venues, including four in San Diego County. Shoots’ original launch at the Tremont Collective location marked the beginning of the brand, which has since grown into a profitable and standalone operation.
