IKEA is Opening a New Plan and Order Point in San Diego

IKEA is bringing a new Plan and Order Point with Pick-Up to South Bay, California. The new location, unlike a traditional IKEA store, is designed for customers who need help planning larger home projects. Customers can meet with IKEA staff for home planning assistance and place product orders at the location.

Customers can choose home delivery or pick up their orders at the location at a later time. However, it will not offer same-day pickup, as orders must be placed in advance. Online shoppers in the surrounding area can also choose this new location for order pickup during checkout.

Laura Mellor, Market Manager for IKEA San Diego, spoke about the influence of the new store. It will make IKEA’s affordable home furnishing and design services more convenient for customers.

IKEA has announced that the new store will open on July 22 with a grand celebration starting at 10:30 a.m. The event will include tours, food sampling, and giveaways for the first 25 IKEA Family members.

About the New Store

The new San Diego IKEA store is located at Southland Plaza Shopping Center, 585 Saturn Blvd., Suite A. According to IKEA’s report from January 2026, the store will cover a 2,450-square-foot space. It will expand the company’s presence across the San Diego region.

The location will not include an IKEA restaurant. Customers looking for IKEA’s food offerings can visit the company’s main San Diego store.

The South Bay location is part of the company’s strategy to expand through smaller-format stores. It focuses on improving the shopping experience and invests in better online shopping and other services.

The new Plan and Order Point location reflects IKEA’s continued investment in expanding its presence. It also gives customers in San Diego a more convenient way to plan home projects and shop with IKEA.
