A new Mexican eatery is coming to Royersford this fall.

El Palenque Mexican Restaurant and Bar, owned by Omar Sanchez, will open its doors at 215 Main St.

“We were looking for a space and happened to find the spot on Main St. with a hotel liquor license, so we figured why not make it a Mexican restaurant and bar since this area lacks true authentic Mexican food,” Sanchez told What Now Philadelphia.

The menu will highlight locally sourced ingredients, featuring tacos, quesadillas and a variety of specialty dishes.

“We are trying to keep the menu small and focus on quality of the ingredients,” he said. “We are going to make our tortillas in house to really set us apart.”

They also plan to offer a curated selection of cocktails, with the full menu still in development.

Sanchez said the name “El Palenque” honors the famous Mexican arena where artists perform. Inside, the restaurant will feature a rooster-themed decor, with vibrant Mexican artwork on the walls.

“We want you to feel that Mexican vibe, but in a way it’s a little bit more elevated,” he said. “We remodeled and added tile throughout the whole building–along the walls and along the bar.”

El Palenque Mexican Restaurant and Bar plans to debut in October.

“I’m excited to get it open and let people try the food and have a good time here,” Sanchez said.
