Buttertart Shack Cafe and Creamery, a bakery and dessert cafe known for its award-winning butter tarts, is getting ready to open in Niagara-on-the-Lake at 1486 Niagara Stone Road.

The company’s newest location is set to open in Spring 2026, following a December holiday pop-up, according to the company’s social media. Owner Jason Young tells What Now Toronto that the new storefront will offer a sit-down cafe experience featuring espresso drinks, house-made ice cream, and their signature butter tarts. The space will also include a second-floor seating area for added privacy and comfort.

Buttertart Shack initially gained a following in Port Colborne for its classic butter tarts and creative variations. The new Niagara-on-the-Lake outpost will build on that success by adding a creamery component with ice cream available by the scoop and in pints. Customers will also find butter tart–stuffed cookies and potentially fresh dairy offerings in the near future.

The decision to open in Niagara-on-the-Lake was influenced by the location’s high visibility and accessibility along the Highway 55 corridor, which connects customers across Niagara and into the Greater Toronto Area. Young says the team has long been interested in offering a more cafe-style setting and sees this expansion as a natural next step.

The menu will feature the bakery’s signature butter tarts, along with coffee beverages such as lattes and espressos. Ice cream flavors will rotate seasonally, and the shop will continue its tradition of offering free samples while customers wait. A holiday pop-up is scheduled from early December through December 23, offering local shoppers early access to the shop’s lineup.

“We are excited to be part of this community and bring an excellent standard of Buttertart to this community,” Young tells What Now Toronto.
