Good Nerd Gallery, a boutique art gallery and wine bar concept, is getting ready to open in Hamilton at 138 James Street North.
The new business is set to move into the former home of Good Shepherd’s Notre Dame House School, according to UrbanCity. The concept is expected to open in Fall 2026, with the team aiming to launch during Supercrawl 2026. Created by hospitality entrepreneur Erin Dunham and local art curator Rafal Tomczuk, Good Nerd Gallery will combine rotating artwork, wine offerings, and a small gathering space for customers visiting the James North area. Dunham tells WhatNow that the gallery will open in September, and the wine bar will roll out later in the fall.
Good Nerd Gallery originally began as a nomadic art project created by Dunham and Tomczuk before transitioning into a permanent location. The pair have spent recent months hosting art-focused events without a dedicated space, with the new James Street North location becoming the first permanent home for the concept. The gallery will continue focusing on independent art while adding a wine bar component to the experience.
Dunham is known throughout Hamilton’s hospitality scene for her involvement with several local restaurants and projects, including The Mule, Henry’s on James, and Rapscallion & Co. Tomczuk brings experience in the local arts community through his work as an entrepreneur and curator. Together, the duo plans to create a space that combines visual art, hospitality, and community events.
The opening will bring a new gallery presence to James North, an area that has historically been known for its collection of independent galleries, restaurants, and small businesses. According to UrbanCity, several galleries have left the strip in recent years, making Good Nerd Gallery a new addition to the neighborhood’s arts community.
While full details about the menu, programming, and interior design have not yet been announced, customers can expect an intimate wine bar paired with rotating art displays and events. The team is sharing updates leading up to the opening, with more information expected as construction and preparations continue.
