A new coffee shop is set to open in Seattle in spring 2026, bringing a fresh buzz to the city’s coffee scene.

Seaglass, a new concept from Dan and Jackie Mallahan, will open at 2726 Alki Ave. SW in the former Alki Cafe space, according to business filings. The duo also own Driftwood, a community-driven restaurant highlighting locally sourced ingredients from land and sea.

The new space is described on Instagram as “bakeshop” and “coffeehouse.”

Seaglass plans to partner with Numa Coffee Bar, a mobile specialty coffee concept owned by Seth Allen, which operates inside Driftwood on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

“Many have enjoyed Seth’s delicious coffee at @numacoffeebar inside @driftwood_seattle over the last few years. We are super stoked to have a permanent space next door. Looking forward to many many more sips,” the cafe shared via Instagram.

The new shop also will collaborate with four-time James Beard Award nominee chef Gerald Hawkins Jr. Guests can expect pastries, breads and seasonal dishes blending the chef’s Southern roots with Pacific Northwest flavors, West Seattle Blog reported.

What Now Seattle reached out to the team, however, they have not yet responded. This article may be updated.

Who is Dan and Jackie Mallahan?

Chef Dan, a native of Everett, Washington, studied business at Western Washington University before training at the California Culinary Academy.

He worked at acclaimed restaurants including FIVE in Berkeley, Boulevard in San Francisco under James Beard Award winner Nancy Oakes, and Michelin-starred Glass Hostaria in Rome. He returned to Seattle to open RIDER, a seafood-focused, wood-fired restaurant. Mallahan highlights the best of the Pacific Northwest by using local, seasonal and wild ingredients.

Jackie grew up in Melbourne, Florida, and studied interior design at Florida State University. She also trained at the Culinary Institute of America in New York and worked at acclaimed restaurants including Stonehill Tavern in Laguna Beach and Beacon in Manhattan, where she developed a love for wine.

She returned to California to join Boulevard before founding Delightful Designs Decor, specializing in furniture refurbishment, home décor and spatial planning. Her mid-century and antique pieces have appeared in homes worldwide and on the set of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
