Pacific International Marketing issued a recall for its Italian Parsley. The recall comes after recognizing the possibility of the product carrying Salmonella. Consumers are urged to discard the affected product immediately due to potential health risks.

Recall Issued for Fresh Italian Parsley Supplied by Pacific International Marketing

On October 28, Pacific International Marketing, in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, initiated a recall of its fresh Italian Parsley due to potential Salmonella contamination. The company was notified that a sample collected on October 6 tested positive for Salmonella.

Salmonella is known to cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in people. Healthy individuals may experience fever, diarrhea, and nausea, while severe cases can occur among young children, older adults, or those with weakened immune systems. Children, the frail, and the elderly are susceptible to serious repercussions from the contamination. In rare instances, the infection can spread to the bloodstream, leading to more serious complications.

Symptoms usually develop within 12 to 72 hours after consuming contaminated food. They usually last for 4-7 days and require medical attention when severe, especially in children and the elderly.

No illnesses have been reported so far, and the company has notified all wholesale customers who received the recalled parsley. Consumers are advised to discard the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Recalled Product Description

The recall covers 474 cases of Italian Parsley distributed to wholesalers across eight states. The product was shipped to wholesalers in Arizona, California, Florida, Minnesota, Michigan, Georgia, Ohio, and Nevada. The contaminated product was shipped to wholesalers in these states between September 22 and September 25, 2025.

The product was sold in bulk cases containing 30 or 60 bunches with a twist tie. It was also sold in bags with 24-count bunches with a twist tie. Both packages were for wholesale distribution.

The UPC for the 30 and 60-count bunches is located on the twist tie and is 40695 80125. The UPC for the 24-count bags is 40695 80120. The affected parsley has an 18-day shelf life from harvest, with some shipments marked for use through October 10, 2025.

The company is working with the FDA to determine the source of the contamination while conducting its own internal review. Consumers with questions can contact the company at (831) 759-8301 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PST, Monday through Friday.

Consumers may also contact the company via mail to P.O. Box 3737, Salinas, CA 93912-3737 or email at [email protected].
