Another Yemeni coffee brand is making its way into Sacramento.

Michigan-based Matari Coffee is opening its first local outpost inside the corner space of the former University Art building at 2601 J St in Midtown, according to the Sacramento Business Journal.

The chain’s menu spotlights Yemeni coffee culture with signature sips like Yemeni and Pistachio Lattes, plus espresso drinks, cappuccinos, mochas, and frappuccinos. Non-coffee options include teas, matcha lattes, non-alcoholic mojitos, and a lineup of tempting pastries.

Founded in 2002 by Sadeq Almatari, Matari currently operates eight cafés across Michigan, Illinois, New York, Ohio, and even Canada, with more than a dozen additional shops reportedly in the pipeline.

Matari joins a growing wave of Yemeni coffee concepts popping up throughout the region. Haraz Coffee House and Sana’a Cafe both have area locations in the works, while Qamaria Yemeni Coffee Co. in Folsom, Qisa Coffee in Curtis Park, and Matin et Soir in Natomas are already pouring.

Matari Coffee representatives did not respond to requests for comment from What Now Sacramento, so stay tuned for grand opening updates.
