Flame Broiler is set to open its first Austin location in the East Village mixed-use urban center next year. According to a permit recently filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the Korean bowl eatery is expected to open at 3500 E Parmer LN, Unit 12140.

The permit also displays that construction on the new fast-food dining option is set to spark at the beginning of January 2026 and is slated to wrap up by the end of July. Austinites can expect the new Flame Broiler to open in August 2026 or sometime in the summer of 2026.

What Now Austin reached out to the franchisee listed on the permit, Karima Hudda, who confirmed via text that the new Austin Flame Broiler is still in the initial permitting phase.

“We’re thrilled to be one step closer to bringing Flame Broiler to Austin,” Hudda said in the text.

“Our vision has always been to offer guests real food, real flame, and real fast — a healthy option that doesn’t compromise on flavor or speed.”

According to its website, the journey to become the national brand Flame Broiler is today began in 1972, when founder Young Lee immigrated from South Korea to South Los Anngels.

In search of a way to a way to support their growing family and provide healthy, affordable food to the community, Lee and his wife, Sarah, began dreaming up a unique restaurant that only the Lees could create and replicate.

In 1994, the couple created the Simply Magic® Sauce recipe in their home kitchen. That sauce would become the foundation of the Flame Broiler brand. By 1995, the first Flame Broiler would open in Orange County, CA, and not long after, the brand began franchising.

There are now nearly 130 Flame Broiler locations in the United States now Hudda is set to open the first one in Austin.

All Flame Broiler locations offer bowls, plates, and mini bowls that you can fill with a variety of options; the most popular is the Korean spicy chicken. Customers can mix & match their choice of proteins atop a bed of rice and a side of veggies. The Flame Broiler also offers a mix of drinks and sauce bottles, including the Simply Magic Sauce that started it all, for purchase.

Austinites can try the new Flame Broiler when it opens in the East Village at 3500 E Parmer LN, Unit 12140, in the summer of 2026.
