Calling all Bethesda bagel enthusiasts: one of the DMV’s top purveyors of carbohydrates is making its way to the neighborhood. Call Your Mother is making progress on a new Downtown location, reports journalist Robert Dyer.

Construction is underway on the deli’s new 4828 St. Elmo Avenue home. Call Your Mother will be ushering in a new era for the Woodmont Triangle storefront which previously housed Hardwood Artisans. It is not clear yet when, precisely, the eatery will be customer-ready, however ownership is eying an early 2026 opening.

Bethesda holds a special place in Call Your Mother’s heart; co-owner Andrew Dana previously explained to Bethesda Today: “We’ve always had love for Bethesda. Our Lil’ Trolley made its first stop here … and we felt the love from day one. We always knew we wanted to find a permanent home in Bethesda.”

Call Your Mother has been a formidable presence in the DMV since its arrival on the local dining scene in 2018. The concept became a hit thanks to its unique approach to bagels, which the website describes as “somewhere between a classic NY-style bagel and the sweeter, Montreal-style bagels”. The chain now has locations in Virginia, DC, Maryland, and Colorado, with its first Illinois storefront coming soon. The new Bethesda deli will be the brand’s second in the city, joining another in Park & Rose.
