A new authentic Italian restaurant is set to open in South Philadelphia, bringing classic flavors to the city’s stadium corridor.
Macaluso’s Italian Restaurant is set to open at 3101 S. 13th St. in the former Venu space, led by owners Joel Gruenke and New York restaurateur Mark Anthony D’Andrea, according to The Philadelphia Business Journal.
D’Andrea is part of Road House in Staten Island, a nearly five-decade-old staple known for its pizza and Italian dishes. Macaluso’s will draw inspiration from Road House, featuring classics like spicy shrimp and the signature meatballs, aiming to bring a taste of home to Philadelphia.
South Philly offers several Italian dining options for fans and visitors heading to events at Citizens Bank Park, Xfinity Mobile Arena, Lincoln Financial Field and Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. Popi’s Restaurant, Ristorante Pesto, and Scannicchio’s offer a range of Italian dining, from classic fare and wood-fired pizzas to upscale pasta, seafood and hearty family-style dishes. Macaluso’s Italian Restaurant will add to the list of Italian eateries near the stadiums.
An official opening date has not been announced, but updates will be available on the restaurant’s website.
