Celebrity chef and co-owner Eric Greenspan is leaving Tesla Diner in Hollywood, Los Angeles, to focus on opening a new Jewish deli called Mish.

Greenspan’s departure comes as Tesla Diner, which opened in July 2025, plans to convert to a full-service restaurant by January, according to the Los Angeles Times. The diner initially served American classics, including milkshakes, burgers, tuna melts, and Wagyu chili hot dogs. Business partner Bill Chait will remain involved with Tesla Diner and is also listed as a partner on Mish. Greenspan has deleted social media posts referencing Tesla Diner following his departure.

Tesla Diner drew large crowds on its opening day but also faced protests connected to its association with Elon Musk. Greenspan was involved with the diner for less than six months, contributing to the menu and early operations. The concept is expected to soon convert into a full-service restaurant, which is intended to expand offerings and change the service model under Chait’s oversight.

Mish represents Greenspan’s next culinary venture, focusing on Jewish deli cuisine. While the menu has not been publicly detailed, the project is expected to center on classic deli items with Greenspan’s signature approach.

Chait’s continued involvement ensures operational continuity at Tesla Diner while supporting Greenspan on Mish. The new deli will be a separate project, marking a return to more traditional comfort foods after Greenspan’s brief tenure at the pop-culture-driven diner concept.

Industry coverage notes that Mish is expected to attract attention due to Greenspan’s profile and the publicity surrounding his short-lived work at Tesla Diner. No official opening date or location has been announced for the new deli.
