A campus legend is making its comeback. Nearly nine years after the demolition of Too’s Under High, the beloved basement dive bar is set to return to its roots on North High Street. The revived concept, now named Twos Under High, will reopen at 2036 N. High St. in the basement beneath Dirty Frank’s, with plans to welcome students and alumni again in 2026.

The original bar closed in 2017 after Ohio State’s development arm moved forward with new construction on the site. For many longtime patrons, the loss of Too’s symbolized a shift in the campus landscape, making way for apartments at the expense of one of the area’s most recognizable hangouts.

Out of that closure came a series of new bars from owner Scott Ellsworth, who built Threes Above High, Fours on High and Fives Up High on the promise that Too’s would one day return. Those bars carried forward the same spirit that made the original famous: a gritty, energetic, unmistakably campus vibe.

With the announcement of Twos Under High, that promise is officially being kept. The return of the underground spot brings a wave of nostalgia for anyone who spent late nights packed into the old basement venue, known for its no-frills atmosphere and enduring sense of camaraderie.

More details will come as the build-out gets underway, but one thing is already clear: the comeback of Twos Under High marks the revival of a campus institution that refused to disappear.
