A fried chicken joint on the East Side of Cleveland will be serving a new area by this fall.

Owner of The Crispy Chick concept Senayt Fekadu has her new location picked out at 6671 Pearl Road in Parma Heights. This is her second restaurant since opening, in 2019, and construction is already underway. Fekadu told What Now Columbus she does not have an opening date right now, but it will be sometime in September.

Fekadu immigrated from Eritrea and set up her business in October of 2019 at 5618 Woodland Avenue. She had the goal of bringing golden brown fried chicken to the city. This is right in the Cedar-Central neighborhood on Cleveland’s East Side, and has become a popular option for crispy tenders. She has been planning expansion for a year, and acquired the building last August.

“The Crispy Chick is a minority female owned business. Our founder recognized the lack of wholesome and affordable foods available in the community, and set on a mission to change that. The Crispy Chick was a product of that mission,” says the description on their website.

The menu will be the same, but Fekadu said new additions will be added, such as salads. Their signature strip sandwich with 3 tenders, spicy chicken sandwich and combo meals are also going to be offered. The combos are very similar to Cane’s Chicken, with multiple tenders, a Kaiser roll, fries and coleslaw.

Fekadu’s new spot is opening at the intersection of Maplewood Road, next to a 7 Brew location. She will be updating the community on the official opening date as construction progresses. Be sure to follow Crispy Chick’s Instagram page for more updates.
