First Watch is continuing its Texas expansion with a restaurant opening in Bastrop at 661 Hwy. 71 W., Ste. 101. According to Community Impact, the new First Watch is set to open in the first quarter of next year.
What Now Austin attempted to reach out to First Watch CEO and President, Chris Tomasso, for more details on the opening, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.
First Watch was founded in 1983 in Pacific Grove, California, by John Sullivan and Ken Pendery. The daytime-dining chain now has more than 600 locations across 31 states. There are at least 16 First Watch locations in Texas.
Known for its fresh, high-quality ingredients, First Watch’s “Daytime Dining” concept is the hallmark of the establishment, which keeps it open from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The name “First Watch” is a nautical term for the first work shift on a ship, reflecting the restaurant’s hours of operation, which are limited to breakfast, brunch, and lunch, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily.
“Just as we greet each morning with the sunrise, we welcome each season into the First Watch menu with ingredients and flavors inspired by the position of the sun,” the website reads.
Serving up breakfast, lunch, and brunch, First Watch locations typically have the same, if not similar, menus highlighting what’s in season. The food chain also offers a host of fresh juices, cocktails, health health-conscious items.
While there are no details yet on the exact opening date, First Watch is expected to open on 661 Hwy. 71 W., Ste. 101 in Bastrop in early 2026.
