As 2025 approaches its end, New York’s dining scene has witnessed a wave of restaurant closures. Several iconic dining spots bid farewell to the city and left the community with heavy hearts.

A Tough November: New York Loses Several Cherished Restaurants

Some of New York’s finest restaurants, including upscale fine-dining, decades-old staples, and oceanfront restaurants, have closed their doors permanently this November. The list includes:

Dolly’s

Owned by Shelly Boris and Kimball Gell, Dolly’s, a Hudson Riverside restaurant, permanently closed its doors on November 2. The restaurant with its scenic patio, was a favorite gathering spot for locals.

The menu featured seasonal dishes, international flavors, and bistro-style favorites, paired with craft beers, classic cocktails, and a curated selection of New York, Italian, and French wines.

Miss America

Beloved Jersey City restaurant Miss America has bid farewell after more than 80 remarkable years of service. Long considered one of the city’s true landmark destinations, the restaurant served its final dinner on November 3.

Before closing, Miss America was known for its hearty breakfasts, fresh salads, and inviting atmosphere that drew locals for decades.

The Whale’s Tale

After 16 long years in Northport, the oceanfront restaurant, The Whale’s Tale, closed down on November 8. The restaurant celebrated its final week with special events from November 1-8, ending with its last dinner service.

With indoor and outdoor seating, the waterfront restaurant offered fresh seafood, salad bowls, tacos, and more.

Hildur

One of Brooklyn’s favorite restaurants, Hildur, made a closure announcement through social media. The restaurant served its final meal on November 14.

Hildur expressed heartfelt thanks to the Brooklyn community for their support over the years. Popular dishes from the restaurant included food items with a Nordic touch and an extensive selection of wine options.

Colonie

Another iconic restaurant of Brooklyn, Colonie, also announced its closure this month. The restaurant is shutting down after 15 years of service on November 30. Colonie, known for its New American menu and locally sourced ingredients, was a staple of Brooklyn’s dining scene.

The upscale restaurant offers dinner options like crostini, pasta, and dessert, including a sticky date cake; brunch; and a well-curated wine, cocktail, and beer list.

As the holiday season begins, several beloved New York restaurants have closed, marking the end of notable chapters in the city’s dining scene.
