A California-transplant is preparing to serve DFW diners Italian comfort food with an elevated twist. Ospi, a concept from celebrated chef Jackson Kalb, is making its way to the Design District in early 2026, reports the Dallas Business Journal.

Ospi, an all-day Italian dining experience, will be taking over the storefront located at 1621 Oak Lawn Avenue that housed Meddlesome Moth until its closure in May of this year. The restaurant will be taking over a dedicated 5,000 square foot space and is aiming to open at some point in the first quarter of 2026.

While Ospi will, of course, be providing a delicious new dinner option for hungry DFW diners, the eatery will stand out particularly thanks to its lunch options. Vipin Nambiar, the founder of HN Capital which is developing the Design District restaurant, states: “It’s pretty close to a lot of people’s offices, and just the quality of the product is so good that we think it would be really popular for lunch.”

Ospi has already won over foodies in Venice, California, and is now setting its sights on Dallas. The website offers this glimpse as to what’s in store: “Ospi is our version of a casual lunch trattoria, familial dinner restaurant, and recovery brunch spot on the weekends.”
