Chef Phen T. Diep, the culinary force behind Pflugerville’s Broth & Basil Pho Noodle Bistro, is preparing to open a sister concept: Bites & Basil. It’s opening in Hutto, in the Town West Commons Development, located at TX-79 and Co Rd 119.

Huttopia.com first broke this news almost a year ago, saying the new restaurant will bring together influences from Vietnamese and Texan cuisines. At the time, it was expecting a Fall 2025 opening.

After some delays (which are pretty much always to expected in the contemporary permitting and construction landscape), the restaurant now appears to be finishing up construction and preparing to open.

What Now confirmed the news with Chef Phen T. Diep on Friday. Diep and another representative of the restaurant declined to comment on the opening at this time, however.

Details on the Bites & Basil menu are thus still unknown. But the Broth & Basil menu features House Specialties like the Hu Tieu Special (Served dry or with broth; served with shrimp, pork, dried shrimp and fried pork rinds, fried onions; choice of rice, egg or tapioca noodles) and Wagyu Bo Luc Lac (Featuring badass beef from Ranger Cattle, served on a sizzling hot cooking stone, cook it yourself style. Served with steamed rice, fried egg, side salad and a side or pork broth. Dine in only, please).

Then there are the restaurants eleven varieties of pho, including Pho Phenomenal, with rare steak, brisket, flank, tripe, and tendon in beef pho broth. We’re looking forward to seeing how Bites & Basil compares!
