Earlier this year, What Now Boston reported that a longtime Wellesley restaurant was preparing to relocate, though specifics were still unfolding. Now, more details have come to light.
Amarin of Thailand, a popular Thai eatery founded in 1987, is gearing up for a comeback. After operating for nearly four decades at 27 Grove St in Wellesley, the restaurant closed in July 2025 when its lease expired. It is now preparing to reopen at 313 Walnut St in Newtonville, confirmed a partner at the restaurant.
“It’s going to be under the same name, you know, same corporation, same website, same everything,” he previously told What Now Boston. “Because this is where we started and where we’ve been for 36 years.”
At the new location, fans can expect all the familiar favorites that made Amarin of Thailand a local staple, including pad thai, pineapple fried rice, gyoza, curries, and signature dishes like hot tangerine duck and black pepper chicken.
The team is currently awaiting final permitting and hopes to open in about a month. Once it debuts, Amarin of Thailand plans to operate in Newtonville Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. for dinner. On Sundays, the restaurant will be open from noon to 9 p.m.
