After a recent rebrand, a popular Mexican restaurant is debuting with two locations in the Philadelphia area.
GuestCounts Hospitality, which acquired Bomba ¡Tacos + Tequila! (formerly Bomba Tacos + Bar) in March 2025, will open new locations in Newtown on January 24 and Malvern on February 15, according to a press release.
Barry Gutin and Larry Cohen, business partners since 1995, operate the independently owned Latin restaurant group whose portfolio includes Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar and Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar.
Bomba will serve a menu of salads, bowls, sandwiches and tacos. Signature tacos include carne asada, a marinated skirt steak; chicken tinga, chicken marinated in chipotle; al pastor, chile and citrus-marinated pork topped with charred pineapple; and carnitas, a crisp confit-style pork shoulder.
They will also roll out new offerings, including birria, El Jefe Platos and a monthly “test kitchen” featuring rotating dishes.
True to its name, Bomba will focus on tequila, featuring more than 50 premium tequilas and mezcals. The eatery will offer tequila flights, specialty margaritas, craft cocktails and a zero-proof tequila mocktail. Guests can sample Kevin Hart’s Gran Coramino Tequila at the grand opening.
As part of the rebrand, Bomba’s bar will feature games like foosball and darts, additional TVs and daily happy hour specials. Weekly promotions include “Man vs. Taco,” an all-you-can-eat $19 deal on Sundays, and “Jeopardy” on Thursdays.
Bomba continues its playful theme as a “cheeky neighborhood spot,” with witty sayings on the walls, windows and staff T-shirts. Guests can also pose for photos at an interactive angel wing mural.
To set the new locations apart, the Malvern outpost will feature firepit dining tables, while the Newtown location will offer a side patio overlooking the mini amphitheater at the Village at Newtown.
