Wok Shop Cafe is a Chinese restaurant known for catering to a wide palate with seafood, vegetarian, and freshly prepared soups. According to the inspection report, the violations were as follows:

  • Raw shelled eggs were observed stored at room temperature and measured at 75°F for more than six hours. The report asked the establishment to discontinue storing potentially hazardous food at room temperature.
  • The report stated that a black, thick, mold-like substance was seen inside the ice machine’s interior. It had water dripping through the substance and contaminating the ice.
  • An employee was seen placing a personal cell phone on top of a bowl of vegetables located on the food preparation table.
  • According to the inspection report, rodent droppings were found in several locations, indicating a severe infestation
  • The report also mentioned an active cockroach infestation, including numerous live and dead cockroaches in monitoring traps, live juvenile and adult cockroaches on the wall near the mechanical dishwashing machine, dead cockroaches on the knife holder ledge, and several dead cockroaches on the floor.

  • An unapproved pesticide product (“Raid”) was seen near the warewashing area. The report noted that all chemical substances must be stored away from food.
  • The report said boxes of meat and sauce buckets were observed stored directly on the floor inside the walk-in cooler.
  • Fan guards had dust build-up inside the walk-in cooler. The report noted that the facility must maintain non-food contact surfaces in a clean condition.
  • Wiping cloths were seen stored on top of a food preparation table.

According to the report, the health department suspended the restaurant’s health permit and issued it a red placard that led to its closure. The eatery may request a reinspection after it has corrected all the violations.

The restaurant must get the services of a licensed pest control operator to inspect and treat the facility for rodents and cockroaches.
