Two brothers known for their bagel expertise are set to open a new spot on the Main Line, sparking early excitement.

Bart’s Bagels, run by brothers Brett and Kyle Frankel, is set to open its third location at 273 Montgomery Ave., taking over the former Tony Roni’s space, the duo announced on Instagram.

“THIS IS NEAR AND DEAR TO OUR HEARTS – IT’S A HOMECOMING FOR US! WE GREW UP HERE AND WE KNOW THIS PLACE LIKE THE BACK OF OUR HAND. ONWARDS & UPWARDS – WE’RE FIRED UP TO BE BRINGING MORE BAGELS & THE BART’S EXPERIENCE TO BALA CYNWYD AND THE MAIN LINE! WE LOVE YALL A LOT!” the post read.

The post drew reactions from bagel fans, including Kylie Kelce, who wrote, “I could cry.”

The brothers drew inspiration for Bart’s Bagels from trips to New York City’s Upper West Side with their uncle, where they visited iconic bagel shops H&H Bagels and Zabar’s.

“The smell of fresh-baked dough, the cashiers yelling orders, the countermen meticulously slicing paper-thin slices of smoked fish–the sites, sounds, smells, and energy of the bagelry was permanently fixed into their consciousness,” the website reads.

The bagel shop honors traditional Jewish baking methods. They make each bagel by kettle-boiling, slowly fermenting and baking it on burlap boards in a revolving oven.

Bagel options include plain, everything, poppy, sesame, cinnamon raisin, onion, salt, rosemary sea salt, pumpernickel and pumpernickel everything. Any bagel can be paired with a flavored schmear to make a custom schmear sandwich.

Bart’s Bagels also serves egg sandwiches, including the classic meat, egg and cheese, and the Uncle Leo, made with Nova smoked salmon, fried egg, scallion cream cheese and caramelized onions. The shop offers a range of smoked fish sandwiches, from smoked salmon to whitefish salad, as well as specialty options like a Reuben, BLT and chicken salad club.

An official opening date hasn’t been announced, but construction is expected to start soon. Hungry for a bagel? Bart’s Bagels operates two locations: one in South Philadelphia at 769 10th St. and another in West Philadelphia at 3945 Lancaster Ave.

Visit the website and follow along on Instagram and Facebook for grand opening updates.
