Atlanta is preparing to break ground on its first-ever bike park at Shirley C. Franklin Park. Its project aims to expand access to cycling infrastructure in Atlanta’s Westside neighborhoods.
Atlanta’s First Bike Park Set to Transform Westside Communities

Shirley C. Franklin Park, formerly Westside Park, is set to become home to Atlanta’s first bike park. The facility will be the city’s first bike park, designed to teach foundational cycling skills. The park will feature terrain suitable for both road and mountain biking instruction.
The bike park aims to change the Grove Park, Westview, and Bankhead neighborhoods. The park will be open to riders across the region, with construction expected to last 304 days. The first phase is targeted for completion in fall 2026.

Phase 1 of the Bike Park at Shirley C. Franklin Park was made possible with an $8 million donation. The Chestnut Family Foundation is behind this donation, which will be used to include innovative features at the park. Planned features include a world-class asphalt pump track, a bicycle playground, and a dedicated skills course.
The skills course will be designed for riders of all ages and abilities to advance their skill levels. Part of the broader Atlanta BeltLine initiative, the project is expected to support community health, wellness, and outdoor activity.
