Playa Bowls is bringing more of its deliciously healthy treats to the Greater San Antonio area. The açai bowls spot is set to open a new location in San Marcos at the Vie Lofts, according to a recently filed permit.

The new San Marcos Playa Bowl is expected to open at 817 Chesnut Street this spring. Construction on the new sweets shop is slated to start by mid-February and wrap up by mid-May. If all goes well, the refreshing treats could be flowing on Chestnut Street by spring.

The founders of the Playa Bowls chain are Robert Giuliani & Abby Taylor in New Jersey in 2014. Both Guilani and Taylor are Jersey Shore natives & long-time surfers. There are now 300 Playa Bowls shops nationwide.

“We serve our communities the highest quality, innovative products to support healthier lifestyles and inspire a world of fun, excitement, and togetherness,” the Playa Bowls website reads.

“At Playa Bowls, we LIVE our brand in our actions and in the relationships that we make in our communities. Our focus is to provide a bowl full of deliciousness to every guest, delivered with authenticity and passion for the Playa way.”

Playa Bowls offers not only bowls, but also smoothies, juices, and cold brews. But their açai bowls are the bedrock of the brand.

There are no additives; organic cane sugar is the substitute that’s used to make it sweet. The treat has been compared to the taste of blueberries mixed with chocolate.
