Funwoody Restaurants and DASH Hospitality Group founder David Abes has a new concept on the way to Dunwoody. After Steak & Grace shuttered suddenly this month at 1317 Dunwoody Village Parkway, Abes has announced plans for a Southern comfort restaurant, {S}table Comfort Food {n} Cocktails. The spot will open in the spring.

“The team and I are incredibly excited to welcome {S}table to the Funwoody family,” Abes said in a release. “The concept is rooted in Southern style — familiar, approachable and designed to resonate with the neighborhood. We wanted to create a place that feels comforting, ingredient-driven and offers the warmest of hospitality.”

Funwoody Restaurants culinary director Camron Woods is heading up the menu. {S}table Comfort Food {n} Cocktails will offer starters such as the Southern Lazy Susan with pimento cheese, Georgia gouda, smoked duck, country ham and benne seed crackers, and BBQ pulled pork dumplings with chow chow and garlic chili-crisp. The Buttermilk Biscuit & Sweet Cornbread Basket with apricot-pepper jelly and sorghum butter will also serve as a signature menu item.

The entrees will highlight regional flavors, with offerings such as Buttermilk Fried Springer Mountain Chicken with smashed potatoes and gravy, as well as Georgia Mountain Trout “Pecandine” with spiced pecans and lemon vinaigrette, Slow-Roasted Pork Chops with Apple Cider Glaze, Twin Whole-Roasted Quail with Cornbread Stuffing, and a rotating Meat & Two offering with options such as fried cat fish, meatloaf, pot roast and seasonal vegetables.

The beverage program will highlight Southeastern producers, with cocktails such as a Sorghum Old Fashioned — an Atlanta Sazerac with peach bitters, rye, cane syrup and an absinthe rinse — and the George Gold, a mint julep with house-made bitters. {S}table Comfort Food {n} Cocktails will also offer Message in a Bottle’s beloved Funwoody Water on a seasonal basis. Other beverage offerings include an all-American wine list.

The design of the space will have a rustic feel, with a covered outdoor patio reminiscent of a classic horse barn with over-sized chandeliers, stable-inspired design elements and an outdoor bar.

This spot will mark the newest addition to Funwoody at The Village Dunwoody, joining existing spots such as Bar{n} Booze {n} Bites, Morty’s Meat Supply, Message In a Bottle and Good Vibes Ice Cream Shop.
