One of Austin’s best places for barbecue is coming to New Braunfels.
Terry Black’s Barbecue is planning to open a restaurant and smokehouse at 1310 E. Common Street, taking over the former Los Cucos Mexican Cafe site. The 7,860 square foot restaurant will include an attached pit house and a two-story outdoor dining area, according to communityimpact.com.
Co-founder Mike Black confirmed the news, adding that construction should start soon on the project, with an opening date still to be determined.
Fourth-generation pitmasters Mike and Mark Black founded Terry Black’s Barbecue, along with their sister, Christina.
The restaurant, named after their father, Terry, is known for its brisket, smoked for 12-14 hours. The barbecue spot also offers tender beef and pork ribs, turkey, chopped beef, and sausages. There are traditional sides such as mac and cheese, pinto beans, potato salad, and coleslaw; along with desserts. Terry Black’s Barbecue also ships its meats nationwide through Goldbelly for those wanting a taste of Texas delivered directly to their home.
Since opening its original Austin location in 2014, the brand has grown and now boasts five locations throughout Texas and a spot in Nashville. Plans are in the works for boutique hotels, event venues, a winery, and several more restaurant concepts.
