South Florida is pretty much a paradise with its balmy weather, beautiful beaches, and ever-growing culinary adventures. The only thing that was missing from this nirvana-by-the sea was a Buc-ee’s. South Floridians in need of Beaver Nuggets and brisket sandwiches would have to travel hundreds of miles to the nearest Buc-ee’s near Daytona Beach or St. Augustine, sometimes making the round-trip trek in one exhausting day.
Soon, however, the dreams of all South Florida jerky fans will come true with the recent announcement that a new, gigantic Buc-ee’s is being planned for I-95 and Indrio Road in Fort Pierce. The new spot is still in the planning stages, with an expected opening not until the end of 2027 or early 2028.
When it opens, the new Buc-ee’s, with a square footage of about 76,000 square feet, will rival the world’s largest Buc-ee’s currently located in Luling, Texas in size. It will feature 120 gas pumps, 18 EV chargers, and more than 700 parking spots. Even better, the home of everyone’s favorite beaver will offer all the food a hungry traveler could ever want, including Texas barbecue, a wall of jerky, freshly baked cookies and pastries, its signature Beaver Nuggets, and its famous brisket. Buc-ee’s is also beloved for having sparkling clean bathrooms — something every traveler can appreciate.
Buc-ee’s was founded by Arch “Beaver” Aplin III in 1982, who combined his nickname with his dog’s name to come up with Buc-ee’s. Today, Aplin and his business partner Don Wasek still own and control 100 percent of the business.
